Lifelines Online – 1st Edition!

Lifelines Online – 1st Edition!

Welcome to our first ever online edition of ‘Lifelines’, our weekly update of all that’s happening at New Life Croydon. None of us expected to be in this position of not being able to meet physically and having to stay at home, but it’s amazing to see how New Life is adapting to the challenges, to continue to meet online and care for those in need. Our elders met together online this week, and were praying for God’s blessing, protection and healing for our New Life family.

This Sunday

This Sunday we will again be broadcasting our service live at 10am on Youtube. We’re delighted to have Nathanael Edwards sharing God’s word with us. Remember, the clocks go forward this weekend, so remember to change your clock, so you don’t miss our live service! If you can’t catch the service live, you’ll be able to catch up on our YouTube channel or Facebook page.

NHS staff & key workers

We’re sure many of you joined in the round of applause on Thursday evening for our amazing NHS workers. We especially want to honour and pray for all those at New Life who work in the NHS or are key workers in this crisis. In order to support and pray for you, we’ve set up a special NHS Keyworker WhatsApp group where you can share prayer needs and receive encouragement. If you are working in the NHS or as a key worker and would like to join this group, please email Mark.

Pastoral Care

Our pastoral team are working really hard to contact the elderly, vulnerable and others who might be self isolating. We’re providing practical help where needed, but also making sure we keep in contact with everyone. If you need help, or are available to assist to help with things like shopping, please contact Dave Bryars.

We also want to encourage everyone to stay in touch with one another, by phone, social media etc, and especially those who may be on their own at home.

Children’s Work – A message from Louise Abrahams

Children’s work will continue at New Life – just in a different way! Unlike many adults, our children are very tech savvy and accessing online activities is very easy for them. So taking this in to account, we have a new page on our website called ‘Kids Hub’. On here you will find links to games, stories, activities and crafts. Any external websites and apps we recommend are God-centred and Christian-based.

Each Sunday we will post a Power House Kids Activity pack, (a Family oriented pack, with Bible Story, prayer activities, and craft/game etc.) on our website, on our New Life Family Facebook page and I will also email parents a copy. Please email pictures of you doing activities or crafts, I would love to see them. Any prayer requests or testimonies can also be emailed to me.
God bless you all! Louise

Youth Work – A message from Stephen Bryars

Hello family!
It is our desire is to keep contact with all the young people aged between 11-18 connected to New Life family. For this reason, we have set up a private Instagram page (@newlifecroydonyouth) to be the central hub for all our youth. We will post fun & encouraging videos, receive prayer requests & questions, do live Bible Studies every Monday evening from 6.30pm, and more. You might even receive a phone call / message from one of our youth leaders just to check how you’re all getting on.
Peace,
Stephen

Prayer Meetings

Thursday night prayer meetings and Saturday morning prayer meetings are still happening via Zoom. For how to join the Thursday prayer meetings, please contact Kofi Sunu on 020 8680 7671 ext 339. For the Saturday morning prayer meeting, please contact Fred Asante on 07768 601244.

Giving

We appreciate that these are difficult times for some of you, but we do greatly appreciate the faithful giving of our New Life Family. Although, we are not able to gather physically, the life and ministry of the centre continues, and we obviously want to continue to be able to pay our amazing staff team, and support our missionaries across the globe. If you usually prefer to put your offering in the collection on a Sunday, it’s possible for cheques to be posted to the centre. However, it would help us so much if you could now begin to give by bank transfer, by setting up a standing order, or online here, which also contains information on how you can increase your gift through the Gift Aid scheme.

Account Name: NLCC Croydon
Account Number: 50810428
Sort Code: 08-90-79
Bank: Co-op
Reference: Please state the purpose of your gift, preceded by your gift aid number if you have one.

If you are not able to give in any of these ways, but still want to give please contact accounts.

Introducing ‘Church Online’

Our communications team have been working incredibly hard updating our website and social media platforms and introducing new ways for you stay connected with New Life.

We’ve added a new page to our website called ‘Church Online’: this has the latest updates, services, and lists ways for us to connect during this season. It’s also a space for you to submit your prayer requests and testimonies. Check it out below and, if you’re on facebook, join our new facebook group to keep in touch with the New Life family.

The road ahead for the New Life family

The road ahead for the New Life family

Dear New Life Family

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

In these challenging times, we hold onto the promises of God that we don’t need to be afraid. He is with us and has promised to strengthen and help us, both individually and as a church family.

As you will probably now know, in line with Government advice, we have decided that for the immediate future we will no longer be holding Sunday services, or any other ministries or activities at the centre or in homes. However, our desire is that during this season we will continue to function and even grow as a church, even though we are not able to meet together in person.

As we approach the weekend, there’s some important information we want you to know:

This Sunday

We will not be meeting at the centre, but we will be meeting together online at 10am. There will be a time or worship and a message will be shared. Even though we will be in our homes, we would encourage you to welcome His presence as we join together online. A link of where to join us will be posted on our website on Sunday morning.

Pastoral Care

This week our pastoral team have been busy identifying those who are elderly, vulnerable or self-isolating who may need our help with shopping and other tasks. If you need help or if you are able to help with things like shopping, please contact Dave Bryars.

We also want to encourage everyone at New Life to be looking out for one another so please stay in touch with those you know, especially those who may be on their own at home.

Giving

We are grateful for your generous giving and wherever possible we want to encourage you to keep on giving to New Life at this time, as we seek to continue to care for everyone and develop new ways of connecting and ministering to the New Life family. Although many of you already give by bank transfer, there are some of you who normally give your offering in our Sunday meetings.

For those who normally give in the Sunday offering, who are not now able to do so because of the current changes, we would encourage you to continue to give, but by bank transfer or online via the New Life website.

If you are not able to give in any of these ways, but still want to give please contact accounts.

Staying In Touch

In the coming days we will be giving you more information on how different ministries and activities at New Life will be staying in touch and how we can remain connected in this season.

Please check out the New Life website and social media platforms for all the latest information.

If you have any further questions at this time please feel free to contact us here.

These are unprecedented and unexpected times, but they are an amazing opportunity for the church of Jesus to shine brightly with a message of hope to those around us.

God bless you!

Important announcement – Covid-19 latest

Important announcement – Covid-19 latest

Dear New Life Family

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea…..” Psalm 46:1-2

As we enter this unprecedented period, we want to remind you of this amazing promise from God’s word. In times of trouble, we don’t need to be afraid, because our confidence and trust is in God who is our refuge and strength. He is with us, and he will bring us through!

Since we contacted everyone last week, things have escalated dramatically in our nation, and as elders we have been prayerfully considering our response to the latest government advice. We are not driven by fear, but we do want to be wise and do all we can to protect everyone from potential harm.

We have therefore made some significant decisions which will impact everyone who is a part of the New Life Family:

  • We will not be meeting on a Sunday at the centre until further notice. Instead, we are looking at ways in which we can hold some kind of online service. Details of how and when we do this are still being worked out but we will keep you updated.
  • All other meetings and activities which take place at the centre, will stop with immediate effect.
  • Pre-school will be closed from the end of Friday 20 March.
  • We are also advising Connect groups, including those meeting in people’s homes not to meet at this time too.

Even though we may not be able to meet together physically during this period, we will be introducing ways to help us stay connected. We are also putting into place an action plan to ensure that our elderly and vulnerable members who need to stay in their homes are looked after and supported.

You will appreciate that this is fast developing and changing situation, so we will be regularly reviewing developments and communicating any changes to you.

We plan to communicate with everyone again before the weekend with more information.

Please continue to pray for New Life at this time, and especially those who may be feeling isolated and afraid.

God bless you

Update regarding the coronavirus outbreak

Update regarding the coronavirus outbreak

Dear New Life family,

With the current coronavirus pandemic many people are afraid or uncertain about what the coming days and weeks ahead hold. As Christians, our faith, confidence and trust are in the Lord and we do not need to be fearful.

At the same time we do not want to be complacent so we’re closely monitoring the situation and considering the potential impact further developments may have on us as a church. We are following the latest advice from the government, therefore at this moment in time, this Sunday’s services will be going ahead at the usual times of 9:30, 11:30 and 6pm. Additionally, all of our weekend activities will be going ahead as planned including our special meeting tomorrow (Saturday) at 6pm with JC Alzamora.

However, there are some guidelines we want you to be aware of if visiting the centre:

  • Please do not attend if you have a new continuous cough, and/or a high temperature.
  • Please wash your hands before leaving home and upon arrival at the centre.
  • Please refrain from physical contact during our meetings e.g. hugging and handshaking.
  • If you are over 70 or have an underlying health condition, we would advise you to stay at home.

If you have any concerns regarding the health of you or your family, we strongly recommend you follow existing NHS guidelines which can be found here.

Ahead of our Sunday services, we have taken the following precautions in order to do our part to minimise the spread of the virus:

  • We will not be sharing communion this week.
  • We will not be passing the offering bags along the rows, so please listen out for alternative instructions as to how we will receive the offering.
  • Our centre is cleaned regularly, but we have taken extra measures to disinfect door handles.
  • When you arrive, you’ll be greeted with an ‘elbow pump’ or the ‘Wuhan shake’!

If you are unable to attend this Sunday we’ll be getting the message from the morning meetings on our website as soon as we can and you can still give your offering by bank transfer or via our giving webpage here.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation and all our further meetings and activities in the near future will be under review. We’ll also keep you informed of our ongoing response and any changes, so please stay connected by checking our website and social media platforms.

Let’s continue to pray for a miraculous halt to the spread of this virus.

God bless you,

The elders of New Life
